It's finally out! Wansapanataym presents My App Boyfiee is the first project of the break out tandem, James Reid and Nadine Lustre.
It's a wattpad adaptation from the best-selling author Noreen of Parang Kayo, Pero Hindi. Nadine Lustre will bring to life the character of Anika Andes, the No Boyfriend Since Birth Girl while her on-screen partner James Reid will play the role of the "App Boyfie" named Joe.
While the JaDine fans were hoping that the first project of James and Nadine will be a primetime teleserye stint, I believe ABSCBN made a strategic move by launching James and Nadine via Wandapanataym. (Talk about business here)
Perhaps ABSCBN made the following considerations which I agree are valid reasons.
1.) Too early for Teleserye
- Technically, this is the launching project of James and Nadine as Kapamilya stars. Although it's very apparent that they have this legion of fans already, I think ABSCBN is testing the waters first for this tandem. They have proven themselves as movie stars; teleserye is a different thing. I guess they have to make themselves worthy first of the primetime slots.
- Looking at the background of both James and Nadine, having a Teleserye might be overwhelming for them to handle at this early stage.
2.) TFC Subscribers
- As newest Kapamilya stars, we should consider TFC Subscribers who need to be familiarized with the newest faces of James and Nadine. They have to make some waves first as KAPAMILYA Artists. For now, ABSCBN is just set to introduce James and Nadine to TFC Subscribers.
3.) Work their way up
- Just like Enrique Gil who started in Good Vibes, Kim Chiu in My Girl, KathNiel in Growing Up, James and Nadine should work their way up first, and start in small beginnings before earning the respect of Televiewers and ABSCBN that they deserve a primetime Teleserye Slot.
4.) Timing
- James and Nadine signed around 3rd quarter of the year so I believe, ABSCBN has plotted shows for the next quarter prior to the launching of James and Nadine as Kapamilya artists. Let us give due respect to the programs lined-up early on.

Relax Guys. Be patient. Good things happen to those who wait. Let's give this to the experts. Let us not make a wrong impression to the public. JaDines are grateful. Whether it is mainstream or not, we should patronize it. Count your blessings.
Please don't think that this is a step backwards, career wise.., come on guys.. Kim Chiu guested on Wansapanataym months ago, Kathryn will also be doing Wansa not later this year. So don't think of that please, although I understand your expectations and your clamors. I hear you guys.
Just like what I tweeted, napadaan nga lang ang camera, simple guesting nga lang ina-abangan na ng madla, weekend shows pa kaya?
Heads up, Guys. Let's support their first acting stint on the award-winning show of ABSCBN - Wansapanataym.
Chill and don't fret. We'll get there as long as we show our solid support. It will happen, soon. Let's double the ratings! Game face on, JaDine Wolves!
For the meantime, let's enjoy our Happy JaDine Weekend starting next week, September 27, 7:15 PM only on ABSCBN!
Ciao.
I agree with your post. We are thankful for the opportunity given them to be on tv. My only reservation is if its "wansapanataym" the quality is never as good as ABS' teleseryes for afternoon and evening. There's a reason why Wansapanataym is given the 'dead timeslot' weekend evenings. Wansapanataym is also geared for kids (their forte is to make their viewers feel kilig, and understandably they will tone the kilig scenes to cater to the kids). For the most part, its really the quality of the series. I was imagining it as mala koreanovela approach. Im not very ambitious but wansa's quality is really not great. Im still very hopeful though.
ReplyDeleteI disagree with what you said about the quality of wansa... I this project will be very beneficial to James and Nadine because 1) most of their fans are children or youths; 2) It will be played on the weekend which means most people will be at home (more potential audience); 3) this stint will provide JaDine a training ground to hone their acting (it's always good to know the basics before trying to achieve the advanced skills); 4) Dreamscape ang naghahandle ng MAB which I think is good because magaganda naman ung mga review at ratings sa mga projects nila na nag-air sa TV.
DeleteThis is just my view about this topic. I hope you won't be offended. :)
I also agree with all that you've said... Let's not look a gift horse in the mouth... mabuti nga at binigyan sila ng project kaagad, samantalang some, if not most, of the artists that are signed by ABSCBN waits for some time to be given a project. JaDine only took a less than a month for a project to be given to them. Just be supportive guys... two years ang kontrata nila with ABSCBN, maraming projects ang nakalineup sa kanila... patience lng ang kailangan natin at solidarity as fans :)
ReplyDeleteHi jadinepublicist. Pls excuse my ignorance, I don't know how to post an OT comment here on your blog, so I just posted here. I posted at pex and I want it to reach u guys sana.

Hi jadineland!
It's my first time to post here. I mostly get my updates from IG where I think most of everybody are. I love how mature this fandom is of course led by the Fab5andfriends...Kantogang crack me up all the time with their comments na nakakaloka...jadineoublicist...the Elites who are so techy what with the soon-to-be-launched app (sankapa!).
I'm a closet fan. I don't have ig or twitter. I don't follow showbiz loveteams. In local showbiz, I only love Sarah G but now I just also love Nadine and James esp when they're together! I love how honest and spontaneous they are during interviews. Well, at least they try kasi super pa ulit ulit ang tanong sa kanila, dapat ibahin naman ng interviewers para may ibang sagot sila, bka OJD, like during the A&A interview, I wondered what James was about to answer as his confession when Boy Abunda asked, Kaso Kris answered for him abt being a hardcore party boy. Assumera mode on lang talaga ako that time, he was super caught off guard kasi at feelin ko he was going to say something we haven't heard before haha sayang.
Anyway, I just have a favor. Whoever will be able to read this, know that I have nadine and james best interests at heart. Paki parating naman kila ms poliii2014 et al heheh. I've been hearing nadine say that she still needs workshops kasi for her acting, and I agree, for both of them actually. But can somebody also point out that she actively push for more voice and dance lessons also. I don't know what their skeds are but when I watch their live performances, I honestly feel like james is more performance ready in terms of voice quality, consistency, confidence and endurance (no hingal in the live singing voice, and I loved his Dubai duet with SG). I just don't want the other insecure fandoms kasi to have any bullets against both of them esp Nadine. Like I want that when they go to ASAP or wherever, they can do a todo live performance ala sarah g kasi I think that's really something that the other fandom cannot do. Up their game a bit more tutal focused naman sila sa careers nila.
Sorry ang haba. I just want to say my constructive advice. Always a fan! Back to silent mode, thanks a bunch!
Hi! I am glad that you've read my blog. This is an alternative if in case you don't have social media accounts. Thank you for supporting James and Nadine and I agree on what you said. I believe that VIVA has plans in terms of singing, acting and dancing workshops. There's also no denying that James is somehow at par when it comes to singing. But surely nadine can catch up. Thanks so much! I'll keep this blog updated.
