While we
take it as another blessing that James and Nadine would be staging a new movie,
aside from the expected sequel of Talk Back and you’re Dead, most JaDine fans
believe that this year is not a good time to release the third film of James
and Nadine.
In reference to the article posted via PUSH.COM, James
stated that VIVA is eyeing to produce another film with Nadine, possible this
year. I don’t have any violent reaction if ABSCBN plans to launch JADINE’S
first Teleserye this year. My issue is the THIRD FILM. My reaction: “Seriously. This year? No. Not this year. Oh
No.”
I have written a lot of Dear VIVA articles before, but I am
REALLY, REALLY hoping that this blog post will finally reach them. Given it’s
true, here are the key points to consider why launching a third movie this year
is kindda overboard:
DON’T STRIKE THE IRON
TOO MUCH
There goes a saying ‘strike
while the iron is hot.’ I see that VIVA has been using this as their strategy,
reason why James’ and Nadine’s career skyrocketed. But personally, I think that
VIVA overuses this strategy so much so that the projects of James and Nadine have
always been IN A RUSH.
Reiterating what I said on the
results of TBYD, the fast-phased production timetable of the movie was
reflected on the output itself. Say for example, for students who RUSHED their
projects because they’re time-pressured, you would always expect that the
result will always be underwhelming.
Here’s the thing ---
Fans of James and Nadine will always support them no matter what. If you
release the movie this year, yes, we’ll
support them, of course… because we love them that much. We are automatic ticket-buyers. But like what I’ve
said, what about the other target
market, like the non-JaDine Fans?
For example:
The
400 Million Gross Sales of Starting Over Again didn't solely come from
SOLID TONI-PIOLO or Toni-and-Piolo FANS. I am not a fan of Toni and Piolo, but
I watched and gave a good review of the film because of its quality
and the good reviews I’ve read. Oops, I almost forgot, it took them one year to
finish the whole film. Plus it’s Olivia Lamasan (the reputation of the director also counts). See the result? Need
I say more?
What I am trying to point out is, please take your time. Take
it slow. Likewise, slowly but surely; consider that good preparation leads to success.
I know you know this already. But given the timetable is true, there must be a
problem.
VIVA, we are willing to wait; no matter how long it is, we
know that it’s worth the wait. Too much of a good thing is not always a good
thing. So please, don’t strike the iron too much. We are just here. We’re not
going anywhere.
THE ‘SABIK’ Factor
versus THE ‘SAWA’ Factor
One of the reasons why James and Nadine captured our hearts
is because they’re like a breath of fresh air in the industry; new faces with
magical charisma and palpable chemistry, but we don’t want them to be overrated as early as now. That’s
actually the Unique Selling Proposition of James and Nadine. Since we don’t see
them often on mainstream Television (only during weekends), the thrill,
curiosity, and excitement on their next project has always been ka-abang-abang.
Allow me to share the difference of these two formulas:
‘SABIK’ Factor + Longer Production Time + Good Direction =
REDEMPTION
‘SAWA’ Factor + In A Rush Production Time + The Same
Direction = TURN OFF
I’m afraid that if James and Nadine get the impression of
artists who stage low quality films plus the ‘Sawa’ factor if you’re going to
produce three movies in a year, these situations might be detrimental on their
part, thus affecting their careers as well.
VIVA, may bukas pa
(there’s still tomorrow). Why are you in a hurry?
It’s already October. I am aware that you did it already on
Diary Ng Panget. You did the whole thing in just one month. But the quality of
film is not that superb. You did it again on TBYD, no less than 15 Shooting
Days. But the quality of the film has been jeopardized. The third film should
be a redemption film for James and Nadine. If you’re going to do a one-month
preparation again, then I guess people would expect the same output.
Then again, of course
JaDine Fans would patronize it; we will promote it for sure, but we couldn't control the reviews coming outside of our fandom, coming from prestigious blog
writers who have a say on movie reviews, who can sway the decisions of moviegoers whether to watch or not to watch the film.So please VIVA, take your time. Make us curious. Make us
feel excited. Make us feel thrilled.
The IDEAL Movie to
take SUPPORTING ROLES
I actually can’t imagine how VIVA can squeeze in the
schedule of James and Nadine if they’re going to release the movie this year. It's gonna be toxic. Enlighten me with this one, but I don’t know any artist who did three
major films in a year. I only know artists who did two movies in a year but the
time-gap is long.
If VIVA is still deaf over our clamors and push through the
film this year, it’s advisable if they give chance to others. JADINE can do supporting role. Use them to help VIVA launch other artists. As of now, VIVA confirmed or gave us clues that they are set to produce these
two films – Operation: Breaking the Cassanova’s Heart and Para Sa Hopeless
Romantic. So it’s either one of these films, or an ORIGINAL FILM. Let’s
eliminate BTCHO since it has been announced that this is the launching film of
Shy Carlos. We are down to two – Marcelo Santos’ Para Sa Hopeless Romantic or
ORIGINAL Film (When I say original, it’s not a wattpad or a book adaptation).
Para sa Hopeless
Romantic
They can get the supporting roles of Para Sa Hopeless
Romantic. If you’ve read the book, you can relate. Give the Ryan-Maria Love
Story to James and Nadine. Elaborate on the plot of Ryan and Maria. Since the
love story of Ryan and Maria is the start of the book. Give the Rebecca-Nikko
Love Story to Yassi and Andre. It’s their time to shine. Let’s not put into
waste the awesome tandem that they had in DNP. The rest of the characters
actually don’t matter to me.
Start it with Ryan-Maria – then Rebecca – Nikko- then end it
with Ryan and Maria again. If you haven’t read the book yet, you can relate
with my imagination. Huge bulk of the story falls on Rebecca and Nikko. But on
the book, Rebecca is writing the story of Ryan and Maria. You’ll get this if
you’ve read the book. At least, the beginning and end of the film will be given
to James and Nadine, the main characters will be given to Yassi and Andre. I
think this is fair enough. I’ll post my own story line on a separate blog post.
The STRATEGIC Timing
Evaluating the fans’ reaction, a Teleserye before a Movie
would be great. After My App Boyfie, it’s very okay if they’ll have a Teleserye
starting this year. James and Nadine will gain more fans if viewers see them on
FREE TV. TFC Subscribers will get to know them more, thus gaining more fans
abroad. More Fans abroad will make them money-worthy for Star Cinema or VIVA to have International Screenings, and many JaDine
Fans who were pleading to watch their films ever since TBYD can have a chance to watch on the big screen.
Star Cinema is set to release a lot of movies this year,
like Kim and Xian’s Past Tense, plus entries for Metro Manila Film Festival.
KimXi is strong in the box office and it’s advisable for JaDine to give way for
this one, since they already had two this year.
How about a third movie of James and Nadine on the first
quarter of 2015? Like sometime February 2015 (Fifty Shades of Grey month pala ito) or March 2015, April 2015 is
also a good timing (DNP Month last year)?
TWITTER Survey
I actually asked the fans if they agree on another JaDine Movie this year. Take a look at their answers:
AT THE END OF THE DAY, let's just pray and hope for the best. I hope that James is just referring 'this year' as the start of the production, but not the release of their third movie. There's no confirmation yet from VIVA; but I really hope that they consider this, a simple blog post speaking on behalf of the fans, in making their decisions.
Thank you for reading.

COULDN'T AGREE MORE. Hands down to JaDine Publicity. JaDineLand is so blessed to have you.
ReplyDeleteThank you Roselle. I am more than blessed to have you guys! Thanks for reading.
DeleteAGREEEE!!!
ReplyDeleteGood job dear! Well said! GOD Bless!!!
Thanks Golda!
DeleteGREAT POINTS! Same thoughts. And more over, they are beating the purses of the fans. Considering that majority of the fan base are students, and not everyone are well-off. To be honest, the showing of TBYD was too sudden for me, I didn't get to keep enough money nor watch because of my demanding school schedule.
ReplyDeleteI was extremely shock that it's just a few months after the success of DNP, another movie is in process. Take note, the Fab4 are still busy with all these mall tours and concerts. And then, TBYD filming came. Not blaming the team of TBYD or whatsoever, but it is all too sudden. It's even my first time seeing a LT release 2 movies in a year.
And yeah, they seem to forgot the importance of QUALITY. Filipino's are very meticulous when it come to quality. If they continue on doing this, I'm afraid people, particularly the non-JaDines, will not patronize cause it already stuck in their mind of the poor quality shown to them.
I agree. Although, if they're planning to release it this December, they're taking advantage of the 13th Month thingy but students don't have that otherwise they'll ask from their parents.
DeleteI am just afraid that people would peg them as artists who are products of quantity not quality.
me as well, I truly agree! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading jihun!
DeleteNow i understand the quality of a movie. The 1st time i watched dnp kilig andoon but 2nd time around andon parang wala nang masyadong recall same wid tbyd. Napaisip din ako di kaya minadali nila ang movie para walang maging ka kompetensya by next year? Db mag re release din ng movie ang hottest lt? Hope so di yan ang isa sa rason.
ReplyDeleteMindali talaga is the best word, I don't know the reason behind it. Pero ang dami din namang naka line up these months. MMFF pa lang na movies bak-bakan na yan ng December. May malaki pang paparating which is yung Past Tense ni Kim and Xian. Definitely, hit yon.
Deleteagree na agree po kmi dyan ...
ReplyDeleteYay sana nga ate makarating na to sa management nila para hanggang maaga pa lang ii maayos na nila or magawan na nila ng paraan para mas mapaganda pa ang gagawin nilang projects..Pero kahit anu man ang maging desisyon nila I will still support JaDine..
ReplyDeleteSupporters of JaDine will still watch the movie, regardless of its release. Automatic we'll purchase movie tickets by all means. But as fans, we want JaDine to make an impression to non-JaDine Fans by being products of quality films.
DeleteAugh..I really love JaDine..
ReplyDeleteYup same views here... great work JaDine Publicist! realy hope Viva would read this.
ReplyDeleteHi Ariane. Yes. VIVA TV actually posted on their Twitter that they have read this blog entry already. Thanks to all who tweeted and tagged them with this post. I hope they'll consider our views and opinions. They may have the management perspective, but they don't have the target audience's perspective.
DeleteThank u JaDine Publicist.
ReplyDeleteMy thoughts exactly.
Kaso I'm thinking about the probable cause how they could make a movie. The only conclusion I came to is that they know about the teleserye and there's a plan for them to have one na. BUT, the time table of ABS CBN would not allow it to air this year. Unless they have more shows that would end and hnd mag click ung ibang ipapalabas at matatapos agad.
As far as I know, ABS has three shows that would end: 1. Ung ke coco and kim 2. Ung ke bea and paolo 3. Ung ke maya. Ang slotted is ung ke enrique and then isa ung s nanalo ng the voice kids. Ung isang LT p nila na mejo rabid ang fans s atin e alam ko mron din plano for them. Soooo, if may teleserye sila san s primetime un?
If ever man magka movie sila, sana early next year. They could start filming then release it then. James wanted an album this yr right? Let him release one. If they want to promote JaDine - edi hayaan mag cameo si Nadine s MV. And if mas may time gawin nila ung guestings s ASAP - prod numbers to promote them and let people see their talent (please no more lip sync) and let them dance there!!! Dun makikilala sila lalo kc mas marami viewers un and if mkkita n talented sila mas maiinteres un d p fans ng JD db? The goal is to make them a bigger love team and strengthen their supporters.
Kng baga s business point of view, need mo rin imarket ang iyong product. Need m ng commercials and ads to promote ur product. Best way - TV guestings na mas matagal or prods s ASAP. Guesting s KRIS TV, GGV... Un kasi maraming tao. And if GGV man sana hnd half lng ng ep. Napanood ko ung uncut version. 1hr nmn ung worth nung video. Kaso todo cut.
Tapos mag Maalaala mo Kaya sila. Pero bago nila gawin un pwd acting workshop sandali if heavy mxado? I love JD and all but we have to be honest here.
Also, James and Nadine could benefit a lot from acting, singing and dancing workshops. Again, sa business POV, you need to improve and make ur products better to sell more of it. You want it to be as perfect as possible. So give them the opportunity to do so. Hindi namin gusto n maging panandaliang aliw lng si Nadine and James. We're after honing them and ensuring the longevity of their careers.
So please VIVA, hear our pleas? (Oh diba parang gospel song lng?)
Sorry essay ginawa ko.
Teleserye and movie: Next year. If ever may teleserye, bka December pa. Tao po sila, hindi robots~ :)
Love lots,
a JaDine fan
Not sure about ABSCBN's Teleserye Line Up. Nathaniel of Gerald Anderson is part of the line up, plus the one with Denise Laurel and Jane Oineza. Connection of thoughts and tweets, Sir Eric John Salut hinted an idea via twitter that JaDine could work with CharDawn. Then there's this somebody who tweeted me that CharDawn Teleserye is set to replace BCWMH. If the online buzz is true that JaDine will work with CharDawn, and CharDawn will replace Be Careful.. then it's possible na this year ang Teleserye.. daytime nga lang.

DeleteVery well said :) Especially sa mga tulad ko na Foreign Movies talaga ang hilig. Quality talaga ang hinahanap ko sa isang movie, para naman masabi kong worth it yung binayad ko, and mas inaabangan ko yung progress ng dalawa (Nadine and James) sa showbiz industry. :) #CertifiedJaDineFan
ReplyDeleteOf course I want to see James and Nadine on the big screen again, but just like what you've said, we want to see progress. I still have this Hollywood Film Quality Standards in my head, that's why since this is their third movie, bet that most people expect more from them.
DeleteI TOTALLY AGREE IN EVERYTHING YOU SAID. ANYWAY NAKARATING NA DAW ITO SA VIVA! CLAP CLAP CLAP!
ReplyDeleteThat's good news. Thank you dear.
DeleteWow this is really good! Exactly my thoughts about how Viva is handling JaDine. WAaaaayy too much strike on the iron there.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, I am not a JaDine fanatic. I watched their films because they were giving life to those Wattpad stories I once loved (DNP and TBYD). I was really pissed off that Viva just let their lack of acting skills slip through just so they could bag a buckload of money from the movies while sacrificing the quality and art of the films.
Thank you for writing this and THANK GOD Viva was able to read this. May this be a wake-up call for them to always put QUALITY over QUANTITY.
I hope that it VIVA will not only read this, but consider the points as indicated here. Obviously, I am not the only with this sentiment. I have you guys with me. And yes, that was my litanya. Have you ready my TBYD Movie Review? Direk Andoy Ranay wasn't able to PUSH Nadine to unleash her dramatic sense on heavy scenes. Like Liza Soberano in Got To Believe, I am not a fan of Liza, but there's this scene in Got To Believe when she wowed the audience after she pulled through a dramatic scene with Joaquin. Back then Liza was still a rising star and people actually bash her because of her accent and not-so-impressive acting stints in Must Be Love and She's The One. But because of Cathy Garcia Molina, she pulled through..and look at her now.. she's improved a lot.
DeleteHow about they give time to their music? Songs from JR's first album were really good. Gamechanger has the RnB quality. NL's Me and You is so much Zedd inspired and could be another song and dance production.
ReplyDeleteI believe there are a lot of fans of this pair because of their music. I am always more excited about their music (duet and cameo) than their movies. Their movies are about the characters they portray. Their music are about themselves. This could be their biggest edge. A twist to Pinoy loveteam.
Being a love team na Total Performer - that's JaDine's USP; and I agree on that also. Triple Threat kasi talaga sila. Legit performers, hindi pilit. That's why a lot of people admire them.
DeleteWill you please write about their dancing and singing skills? Para sana mabigyang pansin.
DeleteI was able to watch their performance during the Smart Jump Off via youtube and it is really adorable and entertaining. They created the new Pinoy pop. They should do more sing and dance productions kahit guestings lang while experimenting on different styles.
This is not really the time to release another movie, maybe they could just start planning about it para mas maganda yung quality nung movie at pati yung mga hindi fan ng JaDine maenganyong manood. I hope they will focus more in the teleserye para mas makuha yung kiliti nang tao lalo especially the TFC Subscribers. Mas maganda na makita muna nila si James and Nadine sa free TV before sumabak sa another movie para atleast pag yung time na ire-release na yung movie, kilalang kilala na nila ang JaDine. If ever man na may movie na kasama sila this year, I hope supporting lang muna or cameo para naman mabigyan ng chance yung ibang artists. Sana talaga paghandaan ng mabuti yung next movie nila, hindi minadali yung pinaghandaan at pinagisipan talaga, yung movie na dapat lang para sa skills ni Nadine and James, I know they could do better. I hope VIVA would consider this one i know naman na nakikinig talaga sila sa mga fans. PS: very well said JP, ang galinig mo talaga you're one of the voices of this fandom, thank you xx God Bless!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly my point. I just hope that James on his Push Interview was referring sa start ng planning of their next movie, not the release this year. And I agree on that, supporting role na lang although JaDine sila. It's their time na tumulong to launch other artists. If they're pushing through Para Sa Hopeless Romantic, give the lead characters Rebecca-Nikko role sa YanDre. Sayang naman ang YanDre eh. Plus, GMA Talent ang YanDre, magandang strategy sana yon. Para hindi maumbay ang mga tao.

ReplyDeleteYeah me too!
ReplyDeleteI don't want them in a rush. I want them to rest and take care of their health TAO rin sila noh NAPAPAGOD!. I'm contented with My App Boyfie and TV guestings. I better to be excited and thrilled than being "Nakakasawa na."
Well, bright mind JaDine Publicist!
I salute you!
Keep up the good work. Be the best JaDine's Voice! :D
Thanks so much Cher. Totoo. TBH, hindi ako masyadong comfortable na ilagay sila as regulars ng ASAP. Mas maganda pa din ang may sabik factor.. . yan ang dahilan kung bakit maraming nainlove sa JaDine tandem kasi breath of fresh air sila eh.
DeleteThanks so much for keeping me inspired.
Thanks Guys for taking time to read and even post a comment here on my blog. I hope VIVA also read your comments. Love you guys and keep sharing!
ReplyDeleteSure. Let' see. Maybe I can work on that in time with Nadine's bday celebration on ASAP.
DeleteWell said JDP! You've hit all aspects that the VIVA management must consider in establishing this tandem even stronger. I agree with all the points you've laid out because I think since the management was still in the hype of excitement for the success of this loveteam they somehow compromised something as important as giving a lingering impact to their the movie goers... It's a good way to remind them that they should not rush things out just to quench the thirst of the JaDine fans to see them in the big screen again and again and of course just to make money out of it. If this can be considered as seizing the opportunity, I hope they may also realize that there is an even greater challenge they will have to take into account with all the growing expectations of the demanding fans and the even greater challenge of coping with the grueling criticism from haters and bashers who could easily eat up on the non-JaDine followers.
ReplyDeleteSince at the end of the day... It's still the quality and feeling it gives to the viewers which makes a remarkable film and truly brings the stars to stardom.
Thanks JDP.. please continue writing your unbiased thoughts for this loveteam. As i believe that it will help them a lot to grow as treasured artists for this industry!
PS: I'm dreaming to see them be handled by Cathy Garcia of star cinema. I've checked most films she directed and I love it, I'm sure she will be able to bring out the best from JaDine only if they're not exclusively in contract with Viva films (_ _)
No muna kasi matunog na ung name nila. And para ma excite yung iba kasi baka magsawa na sila. They're actually the only local loveTeam i support so i really want the best for them. But God always has a plan. Whatever it is its for the best. I'll always support them. ILY James and Nadine stay strong and humble!
ReplyDeleteHi! I just wanted to share my 2 cents on this. First, i think, though the TBYD movie is quite rushed, (for me) it gave a different feel, more like hollywood/modern chick-flick movies in which the guy and girl fall in love with each other agad then the conflict comes after. It's not the typical Filipino kilig movies in which stories revolve on how the guy wins the girl. So this is sort of the positive side/review of the movie. Next is about JaDine as "nakakasawa." I think if some fans think of this, then it means people who are not fans of Jadine will not really or lesser see them as nakakasawa because they are not really fans, just the average Filipino audience. (Haha, may sense ba?) I mean, kung may fans na nakakaisip na nakakasawa sila, sa tingin niyo ba yung hindi fan magsasawa? I also believe na this year pa lang talaga sila sumisikat so a 3rd movie is not really bad. It's not like they're always on TV everyday. Plus, I think they deserve lead roles in this 3rd movie because they already topbilled 2 blockbuster movies. It's quite unfair if they do supporting roles. It's just like promoting people based on merits, you give more incentives to those who perform better. That's all.
ReplyDeleteThis is really a nice blog, hope you could keep this coming. Thanks a lot! :)
*was quite rushed
DeleteYou said everything on point, I hope viva hears and actually reads this. I really want some good reviews on a movie JaDine made. Sayang lang yung pagod because at the end of the day, good reviews from people in the know matters. Nakakahiya kase talaga when I hear undesirable comments. Gusto mo man pag tanggol, it's true talk back and you're dead was so out of sense that I was skipping through it while watching it on the laptop. Nakakapanghinayang. At least DNP made sense compared to TYBD kaya naman talagang ang laki ng net. Tama ka rin sa part na kahit mag second lead lang sila JaDine as long as their works are being carefully thought out and processed.
ReplyDelete
